Notes SMTP and recipient domain with several mx-records

Hello,

our Notes SMTP outbound server (Notes 6.02 CF2 intl. english on Suse Linux 8.2)is located directly in the Internet.

Now we face very often, that mails were not delivered to a recepient-domains, when these domains has more than two mx-records,and when the two mx-records with the lowest priority are not reachable. Although mx-records with a higher priority would be reachable.

Error-message “server not responding…”

It seems, that the Notesserver is only checking the two mx-records with the lowest priority and as it would ignore all other available mx-records.

Is there somewhere a setting, where I can force the server to check all mx-records, before creating a delivery failure ?

Any suggestions are welcome.

thank you very much in advance for your help.

Have a great day

Annette

…when you do an nslookup on the server? Does nslookup resolve to the correct, primary MX-records?
