Most of our users have two PC´s, one laptop and one stationary. NSL works on the laptop but not on the stationary. The check box “Login to notes using your operation system login” is grayed out and not checked. Polices are working (the other settings are OK). The policy is set to “Set value whenever modified” and not to allow user changes. Does anyone know how to debug? DebugNSL=1 doesnt work, I guess its only working if NSL is enabled but I cant enable it:( . Has anyone seen this or have any ideas?
On clients that don’t have NSL installed. Like that particular installation package didn’t have that selected. Don’t know if you used a different build for the desktop clients, but it’s greyed out because that service isn’t present in Windows.
Some things which would cause the problem you’re describing (if you try any of these experiments, please use a test machine!) :
Notes doesn’t think the ID on the stationary machine is compatible with NSL (for example. it thinks this ID isn’t a user ID). To check this, you could create a password-protected copy of an NSL ID from a laptop (using the “Copy ID” button in User Security), copy this password-protected ID to the user’s stationary machine and switch to that ID to see if NSL is enabled.
Notes thinks the old Notes Single Logon feature is enabled on the stationary machine or your users don’t have access rights on the stationary machines to check for it. This is a simple check for the existence of the “Lotus Notes Single Logon” service
For some reason, the security policy hasn’t been successfully loaded/updated on the stationary machines. You could try deleting the policy from the local address book on a stationary machine. When dynconfig reloads it, you should have the latest version.
