Notes RichText fields and $file

Hi

I have 2 databases. Both has a form with a RichText field.

In both database, the user imports or pastes a image into the RTF.

Question: If i check the document properties, I found that in database one the image is stored in the RTF field (field size = image size). In the other database, the image is stored in a new $file field.

WHY? What is the difference? Can I control this behaviour?

Notice: both database tested on same machine running 6.5.3 on Windows XP. Both RTF are identical (copies). Both databases in ODS 43. All is done from the Notes client (no web users). No $V2AttachmentsOptions.

So, what is the difference?

Subject: There is a database setting

See if the Display images after loading setting (see below) is checked. If so, the images get saved out as attachments, making them devilishly difficult to deal with.
