Hi All,
I am rebuilding a laptop and just wanted to check the files I need to backup in order to keep desktop workspace shortcuts and also the location settings (Dialup, etc).
So far I have:
desktop6.ndk
user.id
all local .nsf files
user.dic
Is there any others I need to backup before the format? Also which files hold what information?
Cheers in advance
Subject: RE: Notes Reinstall - Laptop - Which Files to Backup?
Hi Donal,
I have just done this job this morning , I saved
names.nsf
pubnames.nsf (as we replicate the public address book locally)
mailbox.ntf
desktop6.ndk
*.id
*.nsf
We have seperate INI files for Island & Office to allow users easier methods or replication to their local hard drive.
I also check for any local archived databases, or Journal’s.
Good Luck
Emma

Take a backup of the foll file
Id file - Users id file to log in
Notes.INI - Contains the notes configuration
Desktop6.ndk - Contains all the bookmarks on the workspace page and views of private folders
Names.nsf - Contains personell addresses
A_Archivefile.nsf - Contains the mail archives which is in the data directory in the archive folder
Bookmark.nsf - If there are any additional bookmarks created
these are the only requisite files to backup, after you make a fresh installation restore the backup files in the respective folders and the client will be configured as it was originally set
