Notes reinstall fails with provisionong_rc error

Hello

Lotus Notes full client installation fails:

“Error: File C:\Program Files\Lotus\Notes\framework.provisioning_rc not found. Provisioning process failed to launch or was terminated before status could be determined”.

Advice from IBM does not help:

Subject: This might work

We were doing hundreds of installs, and we saw this particular error when going from a 8.5.0 or 8.5.FP1 client to 8.5.1.

We tried everything that has been mentioned, and what finally worked repeatedly was the following:

  1. Uninstall the current version via Add/Remove programs

  2. Double check that the Registry was clear of any mention of Notes, both in HKey_Local_Machine and HKey_Current_User

  3. Remove unneeded vestiges of previous installs, in particular, the framework and workspace directories. Basically, leave on the \data directory itself and any subdirectories that actually contain nsfs.

  4. Try installing again.

We found this had a success rate close to 100% …
