I have a problem in that when a user signs into Quickr - which has IM enabled - it signs the users out of IM in Notes.
Is there a setting that will allow the user to remain logged into Sametime in both Notes and Quickr at the same time?

Try adding VPS_BYPASS_SINGLE_MACHINE_LOGIN=1 to the [Debug] section of the sametime.ini

There is a notes.ini setting which I don’t remember which allows you to do that.
Maybe IBM support can give that to you. Honestly I cannot find it.
By default it won’t let you do that since it’s not common to be in two locations at the “same time”.
