Notes Protocol opens IE before client from Outlook

I am trying to use a link in an Outlook email to notes://server/etc… Everything works fine except that on about half of our PC’s, Internet Explorer opens up with the url in it’s location bar and stays open.

Everything works fine with the notes client, but there should be no reason for IE to open. If I run the URL from the run command of Windows, IE does not open, so I think the problem exists from the Outlook client (which is Outlook 98). Can anyone help?

I have the same exact problem… Have you been able to resolve this? I don’t think it’s your version of outlook since we are running outlook 2000 and outlook 2002. I myself run outlook 2002 and this does not happen… but I’m not sure if it’s related to the outlook client, if you find the solution to this, please let me know…
