Notes Migration Tool / fact or fiction?

During the installation of the Notes Client, I’m given the option of a ‘mythical’ migration tool which supposedly can do ‘something’ from MS Outlook Express.

Boy, it would sure be nice to migrate the inbox/DBX files from my Outlook Express users when I convert them to Notes, but I have no clue how to launch this tool, nor how to use it. Any help appreciated.

Not a myth, and it does indeed do something. You can find quite a bit of information on it on the Admin help, which is also available online here:

Here’s a link to running the upgrade process:

I went through the docs and tried a test user.

Nupdate creates an IMAP folder inside Outlook Express which in theory will allow them to sych those messages with their online Notes database.

Problem is, I can’t connect, and since they are already pulling internet POP accounts off that same Domino server, it’s not a security issue. Do I need to have IMAP running on the Domino Server?

Yes, you deffinitely have to have the IMAP task running on the Domino server for that method of access to be available. You can issue the load imap command to start it manually, and if you’re going to be running it for a while you’ll probably want to add a reference to IMAP in the ServerTasks line of the server notes.ini file.

‘Load Imap’ at the server console. OK, seems to be working now.

I have the basic mechanics down of the process. Much appreciated.
