I have a Notes client which crashes at least once a day - and pretty much always when he shuts down Notes just before logoff at the end of the work day. The NSD pointed me to a possible mouse problem, but this didn’t fix the crashes.
I checked this morning before the user logged onto the machine and found a ~notes.lck file in his data folder. The date on the .lck file is 4/17/2008!
He’s logged on again now (able to bring the client up even with the .lck file in his data directory) and the .lck file still has a creation date of 4/17/2008.
I searched for other ~notes.lck files on the computer, thinking that maybe he’s using another folder, and found .lck files for two other user profiles. I suspect these three undeleted .lck files remain there because of the client not properly cleaning up after itself.
Does anyone know why this client can start up with an existing .lck file in the data folder?
Does anyone have some insight as to why this client crashes?
I’m going to delete the ~notes.lck file duriing a break in court proceedings and see if the client crashes again this evening, but I’m still at a loss as to why the client even starts with the .lck file in place.
Thanks in advance for any assistance or light you can shine on this…
