Notes Installation - Connect Direct to Internet

I’ve just installed a Notes Client Trial version and get the message “There is no outgoing Internet Mail Server specified for this location” when trying to send an email. I’ve gone through various web pages on how to set up the POP and SMTP server addresses (which I’ve verified in my Outlook connection - which works fine) My ISP is through virgin media / nltworld with POP3 and SMTP servers specified as pop.ntlworld.com and smtp.ntlworld.comIs there something obvious I am missing ?

I’d appreciate any suggestions - Dave

Subject: POP

The easiest way to set up any type of location is to click Tools > Client Reconfiguration Wizard from the main menu - then set up 'Internet Mail Servers.

This will create/update docs in you Address Book - under the ‘Advanced’ tab. It’s been awhile since I’ve had my client set up to pop for mail - so I don’t remember some of the specifics… (I now have a blackberry so I no longer use Notes to pop.)

Subject: Sending mail via SMTP from client

Notes is almost exclusively used in conjunction with a Domino server on the back end through which it routes mail.

To read about directly sending mail to the 'net open the help file and do a search on “SMTP”. You should find a topic titled “Sending Internet mail using Domino or SMTP”. There are other relevant topics as well.
