It appears that when upgrading (or installing R8) the users can no longer use network drives for Notes, their local data or notes.ini files.
Is this not a step backwards? In an environment where people log on and off the network anywhwere on different computers this is a huge problem for us. Am I missing sometging here?
Surely other places also still use network drives. What are you guys doing for R8?

Call IBM to add a little “weight” to this problem.

Subject: Nothing wrong with ‘adding weight’. Besides, it might be worth to have a look at both, nomad installationa nd roaming user installations for this
They both work around the problem.
Subject: Roaming user also not available on R8
Quote from Admin help file
“Roaming user is not supported in Lotus Notes 8. Roaming user in Lotus Notes 8 basic configuration remains available.”
This blows my mind. Is Notes abandoning the enterprise market - where universal login has become a staple? Most of my clients can not operate without it. An R8 show stopper for sure.
Subject: I think it is just a matter of time
I a doing Notes for 15 Years now (Version 3 Beta) and there was never as much new technology in such a short time. Some things will just need a Quarter or two longer to work again.
Subject: Roaming support is in 8.5
Roaming support will be introduced for the standard (Eclipse) client in 8.5, due later this year.
