NOTES.INI not found when starting Notes

We always had NOTES.INI located in the data directory instead of the program directory. When starting Notes, NOTES.INI was found through a registry entry in App Paths.

This worked fine and we were all very happy.

Then we installed Notes R7. NOTES.INI is still in the data directory and there is still a registry entry in App Paths. But Notes won’t start any more. When I click the Notes icon on my desktop, the opening screen of Notes will only display for a few seconds and then disappear.

Does anybody know whether Notes can still find NOTES.INI through a Path or App Paths entry?

update the icon like this

C:\Lotus\notes\nlnotes.exe “=C:\lotus\notes\QAnotes.ini”

The second part tells notes where to find the ini file.

It would be easier to move the ini to the same path as nlnotes.exe

Thank you. I know about the possibilty to add the filepath of NOTES.INI to the program path.

But this only seems to work when Notes is called directly. It doesn’t work if Notes is called by e.g clicking a .NSF file in explorer or by calling a mailto: URL in a browser (unless Notes is already open).

I agree that moving NOTES.INI to the program directory would solve this problem, but for other reasons we cannot do this.
