Notes ID Passwiord and Web/Internet Password Synchronisation

I have set-up a global security policy which defines that the whole organisation’s Notes and Web passwords are synchronised. (In the policy I have checked “Update Internet Password when Notes Client Password changes” and in the the client File>Security>User Security the "Always set Domino web/Internet password to match Notes Password (reduces security) option is checked).

When I change a users password in the client the Internet password isn’t immediately changed but after logging in and out and opening a few databases it does eventually change.

Does anybody know what invokes the change, is it a user authentication, what causes an authentication?

Plus,

Once a users passwords have synchronised I have explicitly changed the users Internet Password in Administrator in the Domino Directory so that they no longer match.

The passwords then don’t resynchronise. Should they? or does only a client Notes ID Password change invoke the same in the Internet password?

I am considering using this option accross my whole organisation.

I’d appreciate any one who could shed some light on this matter.

Also what on earth is the option in the security policy “Check notes password”??? Check it when?

Thanks

I believe the check password option is the same as that in teh Person document (Advanced tab.)THere is a good article explaining password checkign in the Iris Today archives: (Password checking 9/4/2001)

Did you check your Administration Request database? — this is part of adminp I am betting this is the delay.

I think you edit of the password is interrupting the sync. You should let things be and not interrupt the process by changing the password via the admin client.
