Notes icon on the Dock

I have installed the latest Lotus Notes Mac Beta on MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Version 10.5.3. This machine did not have any other Lotus Notes software installed on it. The first few times, launching Notes using the Dock icon worked OK. Unfortunately, lately clicking on the Notes icon on the Dock did not appear to do anything. I uninstalled, deleted all remnants, etc. After reinstallation, I am able to launch Notes once using the dock icon. After the first time, I have to dig into the Notes package, and launch the Notes executable inside the package. I noticed that every time I try to launch Notes using the dock icon, there are three repeating entries on the Apple’s Console application: "7/2/08 5:20:36 PM [0x0-0x836836].com.ibm.lotus.Notes[28027] 07/02/2008 05:20:34 PM Failed to authenticate with server <SERVERNAME/DOMAIN>: Wrong Password. (Passwords are case sensitive - be sure to use correct upper and lower case.) " where <SERVERNAME/DOMAIN> is the name and the domain of my home server.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time,

Subject: Known bug with a workaround…

We expect to have this fixed for GA. Notes uses a number of helper applications and there is a bug where the OS believes that one of these child processes is the real applications and launches it the next time you try to run Notes.

For now, you can usually work around the problem by moving Notes out of the Applications folder temporarily and then move it back. This causes the Launch Services registry to get updated so it launches the correct process. Alternatively, you can run Notes from the command line using /Applications/Notes.app/Contents/MacOS/maclauncher.

Subject: Thank you.

Both of the suggested workarounds work.
