Notes hangs... delete directory?

my client is hanging on startup. It’s remembering the last pages I had open (which it doesn’t like) and freezing. I would like it NOT to remember the last thing I had open and just open to the workspace everytime.

I had this problem once before a long time ago and my colleague and I can’t remember the solutions… but we remember reading about either deleting files or a directory, perhaps under the jvm directory to correct the problem.

Anyone else use this technique to fix the notes client hanging on startup?

Help & thoughts much appreciated!!

Hi,

Last I recall, the information for pages last opened was stored in the Bookmark.nsf file. You can automatically recreate the Bookmark.nsf file by:

  1. Make sure Lotus Notes is shut down.

  2. Navigate to the Domin\Data directory and locate the Bookmark.nsf

  3. Rename the Bookmark.nsf to Bookmark.nsf.old (so that you may reopen it later if you want to configure your new Bookmark like you had your old one)

  4. Relaunch the Client and it should automatically recreate the Bookmark.nsf and you should be all set.

If that doesn’t work, you can try to reconfigure your Client by following the steps outlined in the Technote below:

Lotus Software Knowledge Base Document

Title: How to rerun setup on a Notes client
Doc #: 1245069
URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21245069

I hope this helps!

Subject: Notes hangs

Try deleting the cache and desktop6.ndk as well as the bookmarks

Is it always hanging? If not and you can get in at all, in the preferences section under windows and themes is where you stop it from opening everything again

Delete the workspace, cache.ndk is just a workaround only. To permanent solve this problem. Please apply the Notes_802FP1.

Subject: delete workspace??

I really don’t want to do that… no other way? Deleting something in the framework directory isn’t ringing any bells?
