I have a notes application running on a Notes 6 server that uses Notes/FX to exchange data between a notes document and an imbedded WordPro document. This has worked great for several years but now people in my company are getting new systems and the exchange of data does not work on these new systems, though no error messages are generated. So I now have two systems side by side both with the same version of Notes 6.02, the same verion of WordPro, the same operating system (XP). In both cases the notes.ini file is in the C:\Notes directory. One works and the other doesn’t and I can’t figure out anywhere else to look for the cause of the problem. Anyone have a suggestion?

We have the same problem. The verion it lasted worked on was 6.02 CF 2.We have reported it to IBM/Lotus. The PMR # is 10802.999.678 in 3rd level support.

Hello,We’ve been using FX since '98 and occasionally have run across the odd workstation that suddenly stops doing the exchange (but we already had the problem with 4.6). We use NT roaming profiles and notes.ini is at the profile root (and neither in the notes directory nor the windows directory). The only solution we’ve found is to copy notes.ini to a directory that is part of the search path (PATH environment variable) such as c:\winnt, system32 or whatever. Then FX works fine again.
Since migrating clients to 6.5 FX stopped dead until we did this.
I might add that OLE has proved too unstable and we’re moving to in situ modifiable attachments in 6.5 but now have to find an emulation of FX and other OLE features. Modifying attachments with the new 6.x feature also brings its own many problems.

I just went from Windows 2000 Terminal Server to Windows 2003 Terminal Server. Domino 6.5.1 client.
At this time we changed to roaming profiles on windows, with the notes data directory in the U: drive.
Had FX Problems until I put the U:\notes directory in the windows path statement for the computer and the notes.ini file in the U:\notes directory.
Everything works fine now.
This allows user specific changes to the notes.ini file. Before on the windows 2000 box, the note.ini file was in the common notes directory which does not allow for user customization (changes would apply to everyone).
