I would like to know if the type of field has an influence on the performaces in Lotus Notes.
Subject: Notes fields VS Windows fields
Rich Text fields must have an impact in and of themselves. Otherwise I think the biggest concern with speed and fields is computed fields.
Each calculation a form has to do costs a bit of time. Formatting of data counts. Lookups REALLY count.
But Text vs. Number vs. Date? I haven’t heard much difference in cost between them.
Don’t forget that Hide Formulas also count. (Each row with a hide formula - even the same formula - counts. Thats why you should use a computed subform rather than hide lots of lines individually if possible.)

If Lookups counts really which is the other way of research of documents in a view so that it is effective ? Is FTSearch a good tool for research. Thank you all in advance

Search is even worse. Use that as a last resort if you can’t retrieve the doc another way.
I don’t want to say not to use a lookup, but be aware they are costly. I’ve seen forms with 40 fields, each with a lookup. You start to notice that!
Sometimes all those lookups are even getting the same data over and over again. Of course there you should do that lookup once in a hidden field and then refer to that local field repeatedly.
If all the lookups refer to the same document but different fields, you can put a hidden field on the doc you are retrieving that has all the values concatenated with some delimiter. Then do a single lookup to that field and parse out all your values locally.
Or say you hide a bunch of fields based on the user’s role. Rather than do the @IsMember over and over again, just do it once in a hidden field and base the hide-whens on that field’s value.
Just a couple tricks to get more bang for the buck.

Thank you with all

- I am only aware of it affecting rendering … Notes fields look different than Windows fields. If there is any other effect I’m not aware of it. Be happy to know more myself, if there is any.- Hope this helps…
