Notes database running in Client. User clicks on icon on workspace to open database. Database properties set to open designated page with button on it. Worked just fine for a couple of months. Works just fine for the rest of our users. Today, for one user, it fails to open to the designated page and opens to a view of the databases views. Repeated attempts fail to open as set in properties.
User now having to piss around with database views to get to documents. Sigh… what a way to run a railroad. Not very professional. And who knows what she can bugger up with blanket access to all those views.
Of course, this is the pickiest, most detail oriented person in the corporation. Makes the IT dept look like idiots.
Anyways. I search this forum. Only thing I find suggests deleting the icon on the workspace, shutting down and re-starting Notes. I used NotesMedic to make sure all is dead. Re-start Notes, open database from menu File, Database, Open - same thing happens - no change. I look like an idiot again.
Tried opening up database on other test PC with users userid, no problem, opens to designated page.
No recent changes to ACL. No recent changes to page or database properties. It works on other PCs, and for other users, why not on hers?
Can anyone suggest anything short of me standing on my head holding my tongue against my left front tooth on a full moon in the nude? I swear, if I ever get my hands on the guy who wrote this piece of …
Anyway, getting a tad frustrated. Please help me and disregard my angry frustrated ramblings.
Subject: RE: Notes fails to launch designated navigator for ONE user
I have heard of this happening once, years ago. Notes had at that time, and I’m sure still does, a certain maximum number of fonts it would load up. (That number, whatever it is, may have changed since then.) If the font called for by the navigator, or some equivalent thereof, was not loaded by the time this maximum was reached, Notes would not load the navigator. The user in question had a very large number of fonts installed. Solution: Have the navigator use only basic fonts like Default Sans Serif.
So related question is does the navigator use any unusual font?
