We have a mixed environment of PCs and Macs. We are upgrading to ND6. When I use NotesCompact on a computer running Mac OS X 10.2, the program does not complete. I then have to force NotesCompact to quit. Is anyone aware of any problems with NotesCompact and OS X 10.2? Am I missing an important step?
When I start NotesCompact on the Mac, a window pops up for me to enter the necessary switches. I just enter names.nsf because that is the file that I am trying to compact. After I click OK, NotesCompact just hangs.
Any assistance will be appreciated.

This may be old news, but … I have always had it work okay in 10.x up to but not including 10.2.8. With 10.2.8 it never ends, but I have only tried it twice.

I’ve not had any experience of NotesCompact, Mac or PC. Can I ask why you’re trying to compact that way, rather than through the Notes client itself?
Cheers,

Mike, to answer your question. I use NotesCompact when upgrading our Notes Clients from R5 to R6 because I am unable to compact names.nsf through the client.
The solution to my problem. I just remembered that NotesCompact works fine on Macs running Mac OS 9. I just needed to start my Mac OS X 10.2 computer in Classic mode and then run NotesCompact.
