Notes Client submit()

I have the following code in an action button. The validation functions and both alerts work, but in the Notes Client (it works on the web) the document is not submitted. Any ideas?

if ((validate(document.forms[0].Description)) && (validate2(document.forms[0].Site)))

{

alert("1");

document.forms[0].submit();

alert("2");

}
