Notes Client slow performance

Hi,

Few of my clients are upgraded to 8.0 client.After upgradation the replace design performed from client using template on local. Server still in 7.0.2

After design upgraded to 8, I could see that few functionalities have hung and particulary when selecting mail and click forward button the same takes more than 15 minutes to get the screen.

Any one have come across similar issues?

Hi Venkat,

Your template should never be higher than the server version. This can cause severe performance issues as the Template has features that are not available in 7.x codestream.

If your mail server is still 7.0.2 then you should be using the 7.0.2 Template and not the 8 Template. It is always recommended by IBM Support to Upgrade your server first then the client

Subject: downgrading template didn’t help

I am facing the exact same problem. I initially upgraded both my Notes Client and mail template to v8, and when I click on Mail view it takes >15 minutes for the view to open. I see in windows task manager that nlnotes.exe uses >95% CPU with a constant increase in memory usage and after the usage crosses some limit (104MB in my case) CPU usage drops and Notes view gets shown.

Since my server is still v7, I downgraded my mail template to v7 (File → Application → Replace Design → select my server and Mail Template Notes7V2), replicated with server copy & restarted client. But the problem still persists! Is there anything else I can do without downgrading my client also to v7?

Can you try converting with 7 template on server?

How many users are affected? Are all users affected? Just trying to get the pattern.

Subject: a few things to note

  1. Always upgrade the server first.2) You can use a domino 8 server and have the mail templates on ver7, it works fine

  2. the new notes 8 client is based on eclipse so yes its a lot slower than the traditional v6 and v7 clients.

  3. Do not use the 8.0 client/server as it has a lot of debug code still in it . try the 8.0.1 , its a lot better .
