Subject: Fixed: use direct ibm sametime connection for ST awareness instead of internet explorer http settings
After troubleshooting it a bit further I traced the problem down to the connection method as defined in the location document’s Instant Messaging section.
Changing this back to “Direct connection using IBM Lotus Sametime protocol” fixed the problem. (the connection to port 1533 of the sametime server was created by the nlnotes.exe process).
Setting it to “Use my Internet Explorer HTTP settings” again brought back the behaviour as described in my previous post. (the connection to port 1533 of the sametime server was created (and dropped after a while etc.) by the stconnagent30.exe)
I chose to use this setting to make live easier for myself, so that if for instance I’m in an environment that requires me to use a proxy server, I only need to configure internet explorer to use the proxy for most apps (that support using IE’s setttings like Sun’s JRE for example) to have internet access.
