Notes client problem

hi!

I’m having problem with one of my notes client 6.5.3 installed on w2k pro. After lauching the notes client and after keyed in my password…it hung/stop there and i can see that the “thunderstorm” icon on the bottom left hand corner of the notes window is blinking continuosly.

So, what i did is uninstall and delete the current installation and reinstall into another folder. It works fine for the first time, but after restarting the PC the problem came back again. Any idea how can i troubleshoot this problem? Thks!

The “thunderstorm” icon (just a lightning bolt, since there’s no rumbling noise, wind or rain) means your client is talking to, or at least trying to talk to, a server. Make sure that you have a connection document to your home/mail server (if you have one) using the server’s IP address if you don’t have reliable DNS, and make sure that the information on the Servers and Mail tabs of your location document (File->Mobile->Edit Current Location) is correct. Your Notes client will normally check for new mail when it is launched, and if it can’t find your mail file or mail server, then it will take a while to time out.

Hi! any other possible reasons? I got about 40 clients and only 2 of the PCs that are having this problem. I’ve check the connectivity to the servers and DNS. It’s ok.

Hello, Try this. Close your Lotus Client, rename bookmarks.nsf to something else, notes will create a new one for you when restarted. Hope that works.

Waleed - what does this toward maintaining the connection between the client and the server? We have a disconnect problem between our clients and server constantly.
