Notes Client Hanging

Since the 8.0.2 client has come out I have had a number of my users upgrade to it and when starting the notes client it has just hung.

We have tried different things and here is how we get around it

Start Notes Client

When prompted for password we have them go to offline/island

Once inside of notes we have them go back to online/Office

If there some type of bug in the latest Notes client with bookmark.nsf?

One possibility:

There is a known issue (SPR MPGY7J6SJQ) that discusses problems with the client hanging after the install when “UseBasicNotes=1” is set in a multi-user environment.

For whatever reason, after the install completes, it leaves a Notes task running in memory–which prevents the client from launching again.

You can use Windows to “end task” the offending task or have the user log off & back on to kill it if this is the problem.

It seems that it hangs on loading the workspace and we solved it with starting nlnotes.exe or run nsd -kill from command prompt.

Try adding ENABLE_EARLY_AUTHENTICATION=0 to your notes.ini
