When it appears to ‘hang’ is the yellow ‘communications’ icon blinking on the Status bar? What happens if you just wait; does the Inbox eventually appear?

This first thing I’d check is how many emails does the user have in their Inbox - and second, what is the size of their database in general?

Reduce the number of emails in the inbox to under 1000 (the less the better).

Upgrade the client to 6.5.5.

The problem might be with the maildatabase. Try fixing it up with load fixup -F command…

try signing her mail file with the server ID of the server that her mail file is on. I know it sounds strange but it’s been known to fix what you are describing.

You indicate that you can access the inbox, but after awhile it ‘hangs’. I’m not quite understanding what you’re seeing. What is the indication that it hangs?

Do you ever see the contents of the Inbox? Are you able to open any items? Specifically what are you doing on the client when it ‘hangs’? What are you epecting for it to do? If left alone, soes it eventually come out of it?

Do you see any messages on the server console, the server logs, the client’s status bar, or the client logs?

Does the ‘hang’ occur after some peroid of inactivity? If you hit Ctrl-Break, can you get back into the database?
