Notes Client for Mac OS X on Intel...?

With the fantastic announcements at Macworld’06 last week, is IBM going to develop Universal binaries for the Notes client? The current version is slow enough, and since I don’t have an Intel Mac yet, I can’t test it; but I think it will be just as slow, if not slower, under Rosetta (Apple’s emulation code for PowerPC applications).

Can someone at IBM development answer that?

Suggest you keep an eye on Ed Brill’s blog or any of the Lotussphere blogs. Looks like that there’s going to be some kind of Mac announcement that has not been hinted at previously:

I’ve no idea if it’s Intel related, but we’ll see soon enough.

yes! a bit longer that I had hoped, but its happening!I really hope the Universal Binary version will be as fast as the PC version.

Since most of the mac Notes code is “emulated” for PowerPC.

I was even waiting for a Universal Binary “Virtual PC” and then run Notes for windows.

“Version 7.02 of Notes for the Mac, slated for release in the third quarter of this year, will include integrated Lotus Sametime instant messaging and support for Macintosh computers that run on Intel Corp. chips (see ”It’s official: Apple shifting to Intel chips”). Notes 7.02 for the Mac will run on Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” operating system.”
