I’m running notes client 8.5.1 fp1. I received the following message when trying to start notes: “The prompt for password was aborted by user”
I decided to just run killnotes.exe and 1 process was killed.
Lotus Notes was able to start after that.
Is this a “known bug” with 8.5.1 fp1? What happened?
Subject: Other software using the Notes API?
I think you have some other program and/or a plug-in that uis trying to use the Notes client API and is hitting the log-in call.
One way to try to solve this is to change the setting: File>Security>User Security and check the “Don’t prompt for a password from other Notes-based programs (reduces security)” box.
But I think you are not getting into Notes right now - correct? Did you try to start it as the standard client (not the Eclipse client) by starting just the nlnotes.exe? Clear the cache.ndk, compact the names.nsf and bookmark.nsf locally from a command prompt before that.
Subject: re: Victor
Victor,No, I did not try any of the usual troubleshooting like you suggested. I just ran the killnotes.exe program and what was wrong was fixed. I could log into notes then.
I wonder if IBM has documented this issue yet?
I’m the only user on notes 8.5.1fp1. All of the users are on 6.5.4 client still. I’m sure this will come up again and I would like to have an “IBM TechNotes” on the issue.
I know I’m not the only one that has experienced this.
