Notes Client Disk Configuration

Hi, I work for a University within the UK and currently have the Notes client configured over our network. Both the program files and the data directory are accessed via shared drives. We have recently switch to xp and are experiencing some netweork drop outs which is crashing our Notes clients. What would the recommended Notes client configuration be? Program files local on the pc or over a share? Does anyone know if IBM even support our current setup using Shared drives or would we be better running the client local on the pc’s? Does anyone else run the client over shared drives? All help appreciated. Thanks Mark

In fact, not even keeping the data directory on a file share is officially supported by IBM (although it appears to work for many organizations). If you still prefer a centralized approach, running Notes on Citrix MetaFrame is an option (at additional license costs). When considering this environment, take care of what Notes versions are supported alongside which Citrix version.

Generally, the Notes client is intended to be installed to a local drive, with all of its components.
