Notes-Client based intranet?

I’m looking into setting up a notes-client based corporate Intranet. I want one “manager” at each department to be able to set up different pages with information, links etc according to the department’s needs. This would be done in the designer and would not require forms etc.

I would be grateful for any ideas, templates, links to related information or other thoughts on the subject.

Subject: Not sure I understand …

When you say Notes client based intranet, do you mean that the department manager will use the Notes client, or the users will be using the Notes client?

If you mean that the department manager will use the Notes client to maintain content, and users will use a browser to view information on the intranet, this is pretty common.

One idea: A Notes developer can create generic, blank forms in the Designer. They can be created with a single rich text field. Department Managers will create documents based on that form. The documents can have almost anything on them, such as a home page, links to other documents (pages).

Hope this helps a little.

Subject: No, users use the client

The corporation uses notes as its primary source for internal informationdistribution. It’s just that at the moment it’s spread to lots of databases and we intend to make a intranet that would be a starting point. So all the users use the client, the managers use the domino developer (R6)

Doing this in the Notes Client per se can be a bit challenging/daunting for any number of reasons. Lotus tried it with a Portal Template they released some years back and it was a disaster.

But, if you upgrade to 6.5.1, you can leverage the Workplace interface to make it an easier task.
