Notes Client and iNotes unread marks - monitoring/auditing?

Hi,

I am just wondering if there is any way to monitor or audit read/unread marks within Notes mail files.

For example, can you tell when an email was opened and by whom without triggering a return receipt.

We have a requirement for this and would prefer not to modify the mail template - maybe a third-party product ?

Is this possible in anyone’s experience ?
