Notes CLient 8.0.1 & Instant Messaging

Hello all,

I have just installed Domino 8.0.1 server (C18XPEN) and Notes Client (C19U1EN). Documentation on the subject says that the Instant Messaging is included in the IBM Lotus Notes Client Installation and is installed by default when NOtes client is installed.

But when I installed the Notes CLient, I didn’t see the option ‘Instant Messaging’. When I tried configuring sametime through File->Preferences->Log in to Sametime, I get the message Server temporarily unavailable.

My question is do I need to install Sametime Server 8 in order to get this service.

Subject: Yes…

You have to have a sametime server installed. The limited use version is part of the install CD’s if you ordered them, otherwise, you can download it through your passport advantage site.
