Notes calendar messing up in Snow Leopard

I’ve just upgraded to Snow Leopard on my Mac, and using the notes client 8.5FP1. The calendar is behaving weirdly. Meetings and appointments on the calendar appear 3:55 later than they are set at, though they appear correctly in the "Day at a Glance"and in the List of Calendar Entries. For example, a 4:00 pm meeting shows in the calendar as being at 7:55 pm.

Subject: questions

Hi David,

Thanks for reporting. When you say the meetings and appointments show up later, are you viewing the entry at the view level or from the preview pane or opened entry?

Subject: A couple of more questions…

Thanks again for reporting this. We’ll start looking into the problem ASAP.

Can you tell me… are all calendar entries appearing incorrectly or only some of them?

Are the calendar entries scheduled for the same timezone as that which you are running on your system?

If you create a new calendar entry (an appointment would be fine) and save it. Does it also display incorrectly in the calendar view?

Is the design of your mail database based on the mail85.ntf template that came with 8.5FP1? Or something else?

Could you possible give me a screen shot of the calendar view that shows the problem?

You can email it to me directly if you like… Frank_Pavelski@notesdev.ibm.com

Thanks.

Subject: Answers to questions

The problem applies to all calendar entries.

Yes, the calendar entries are for the same timezone as the machine. I initially thought it might be related to the new feature of Snow Leopard that automatically finds the local timezone, but the problem persisted after I disabled that (it is enabled by default).

New and existing calendar entries appear incorrectly on the calendar views. Though they look fine if I look at them on the web; it’s only a problem with the Notes client.

Mail template being used is Std8.5mail date showing is 2008/10/20 – that template did not appear to be replaced when either the client or the server had FP1 applied.

Description of attached files:

Calendar entry with preview.jpg – I created a one-hour meeting at 9 pm on Friday 18th of September, as it correctly shows in the preview. In the weekly calendar view, this shows up at 1:00 am on Saturday the 19th. On mouseover shows the actual time is 12:55 am - 1:55 am. This problem is present for both existing (prior to installing Snow Leopard) and new calendar entries.

Calendar_entry_text_boxes.jpg is the actual entry for the same appointment. You can see that the date and time are not properly centred in the input field. If you go to one of these fields and click on it, the entry moves to the centre, but it is moved outside the visible area when the document is saved.

Subject: Problem is with calendar views

The problem occurs with all the calendar views (one day, two day, week, workweek and month). All entries in those views are off by 3:55 (an 11:00 am entry appears at 2:55 pm).

The “Calendar entries” view is fine, and if I open the entry, or preview it the times are fine. A minor issue – in the entry itself, the times and dates don’t appear in the center of the boxes.

Subject: Problem solved…

David’s system seemed to have some issues with respect to the timezone it was set to operate in. The system’s timezone was set to something like GMT-00:05 which was incorrect in his case.

In fact, I’m not aware of any timezone that is 5 minutes off from GMT.

In anycase, by setting his system time zone to Toronto and then back to New York… and restarting the Notes Client… his issue resolved itself.
