Notes Applications and WEA

Our Customer is planning to setup WEA (WebSphere Everyplace Access) for synchronization with hanhelds (Pocket PC, Palm). In Addition they want to sync Notes Application. In an earlier Version of WEA DEE(Domino Everplace Enterprice) was integrated. Now there is no such tool for custom notes apllication. An IBM Developer told me to write an Application running on DB2 Everyplace (connected to WEA) sync the data with Domino over JDBC.

This solution would take me much more time to deliver a solution for the handhelds than whith DEE. Does anybody have experience in this issue? Is there a better way to connect custom Domino Applications with WEA?

Tanks.

Michael

I briefly looked into this in early 2003 and IBM seemed to be transitioning from DEE and WEA but wasn’t there yet. It seems that until IBM can complete their re-development of WEA to accommodate Domino, the only reasonable solution is http://www.commontime.com/.

Michael:

I agree with the other response - WEA is not there yet for custom Notes applications.

There are a number of other sync products which ARE there today, and as the other responder mentioned, Commontime’s mNotes and MForms products are quite strong (although, no ‘custom app client’ for Palm yet).
