'Notes adobe acrobat add-on' error

Searched here, 4/6 forum, Adobe support, google, a few hits, few answers.

We’ve recently had Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 pushed out to everybody’s systems.

When one user (so far) tries to open PDFs attached to Notes docs gets an error ‘Install Notes Adobe Acrobat Add-on’.

Acrobat reader is installed.

No clue what an Add-on is for Notes.

Any ideas on what this error means?

TIA for hints and suggestions

As it is one user, have you tried to reinstall the adobe product and if that does not fix it try to reinstall the Notes client.

We’re probably headed that way.

The wrinkle is that we don’t actually ‘install’ stuff. We have a package management system that pushes out software and does all the magic that’s required. If the user’s system is not exactly or nearly what the package expects, then bad things can happen and this may be the case.

The only ‘fix’ I’ve seen was to roll back to an earlier rev (from 6.x to 5.x while we went from 7.x to 8.1.2). This could amount to a ‘reinstall’ so that may be what fixed it.

Wheeeeee… I love Windows and Adobe.
