Hello, my Notes 8 is not working now, for each time I open a unread mail or document in server or local DB, the Notes client will hang, freeze, no response with almost all my action, and cannot be closed normally, I have to kill notes and restart it, the problem will remain, and I have re-installed it, also not solved, and I think my Domino server could be version 7, I just donot know why it happened suddenly, and I cannot do my work now, so PLZ help!!!

Well at our company we saw a lot of notes hangs after we upgraded to notes 8.02. Didn’t happen to any of the previous 8 releases.
To make the client run is not an issue, you just have to start with nlnotes.exe instead of notes.exe so you end up with the basic client.
To fix to issue, and that seems to work for us here. Is to remove cache.ndk and the whole workspace folder from your data directory. And add this line to the notes.ini:
ENABLE_EARLY_AUTHENTICATION=0
After that the client seems to work properly again.

Try and open your mail file from another workstation with the same version client. Try bringing your ID to another workstation, and try bringing a different ID to YOUR workstation (and give them ACL access to your mailfile) and have them open it. Isolate the problem to the workstation, your ID, or the mailfile it self, this will let you know what needs to be fixed.

I brought other’s ID and grant access to my DB, and still the same situation, but I copied my ID to another machine with Notes 8, it works fine,so…?

I deleted my C:\notes\data\workspace and copied from one other’s, and it seems okay now, confused, still testing.
Subject: workspace and cache.ndk
You do not have to copy the workspace directory from anotherone’s data directory.Just deleting results in creating the workspace again.
If you still keep problems, you could delete the cache.ndk file.
