One of my clients has a Domino 8 server and a Notes 8.0.1 client. There appears to be only a single person having the following problem. When she tries to send an email to someone who has an explicit entry in the NAB, it comes up with multiple variations of that person’s name, including: “First Last” or “First_Last” before the @ symbol. What’s odd is the entry is supposed to be “FirstInitialLastName” as all one word, as is noted in everyone’s Person docs. I have checked the Global Domain document but this appears to be correct and does not reference the addition of an underscore at all for the router to “fake” when sending out an email.
Has anyone ever heard of this? It’s currently this one user at this client and another single user at a totally different client. I cannot reproduce it as I presume it’s a setting of some kind but I don’t know where these other “fake” entries are coming from.
Thanks in advance for the help and if you need greater clarification please don’t hesitate to ask.
As strange as it sounds, check out the recent contacts list on the user’s personal address book. This is a new feature to R8. If they have recently viewed an old document that has that variation of the name for some reason (such as they previously typed it incorrectly like that), then that incorrect version will be added to their recent contacts list.
We had the same issue when upgrading a user here, who suddenly had people’s old OU name coming up. Turns out he references an old email he has saved from those days. We decided to disable recent contacts for him to prevent this recurring.
That was absolutely the issue. I don’t know where these entries even appeared, but if they receive an email message from someone with an incorrect Reply address it might create this, or if they type in the wrong email address it might create this. I will need to do some tests to figure out where/why this is happening.
