Notes 8.51 Doc Lib and Web attachments

Hello Everyone,

Here’s the problem,

When you place an attachment into a document in a database that is based on the Document Library template using the Lotus Notes 8.51 client - the attachment icon does not display the attached documents name as part of the icon - only when displayed via the web.

I.e. when notes generates an image for the version displayed via the web view - the image would only show the PDF icon and the image would not include the title of the document.

The Notes 8.0 client does create the image correctly - including the title of the document.

I have tried using an old template from version 6.5 (ish) of domino with the same results using the Notes 8.51 client. The only other template I have is the default/latest version called StdR7WebDocLib (version 8.5 23/7/2008 ) and neither fixes the problem.

I have tried patching the notes client with Fix Pack 2 and its still broken.

I have tried the “basic” and “standard” (eclipse :frowning: version - both dont work.

I would roll back to the old client ( notes 8.0) but the the old clients are not compatible with the 8.51 template - so that would mean that notes 8.0 client users cant use iPhones etc. I.e. its not an option to use the old client.

So it looks like the 8.51 client just does not work - with document library templates and attachments that are displayed via the web.

Incase its relevant - the 8.51 client does work when sending email messages (using various mail templates). I.e. the attachments image does have the attachment name as part of the image.

Does anyone have any solutions to this.

Thanks for your help,

Subject: i know its been discussed before but…

I know this problem has been discussed before in other posts, but there is not solution to this other than …:

“IBM said that it’s fixed in 8.5.2 which comes in Q2/10.”

This really wont do the job… Its like saying that you either get to use 8.51 with all its bells and whistles - read: iPhone

or you get to do work. But not both.

Any words of comfort would suffice.
