Notes 8.5 featuers not consistent

We have Notes 8.5.1 running as a seamless app on a test Win2k3/XenApp 5 Fp2 environment.

Notes is installed as a single user, but with shared common data. So far everyone is please with Notes 8.5. Performance is good and it’s easy to use.

The biggest complaint I am receiving is general inconsistencies in the functionality.

  • The inline spell check is hit or miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t

  • Scroll bar in folders or all document views sometimes works, and sometimes doesn’t allow the user to scroll to the bottom of the screen.

  • Some times the type ahead in a new message will work flawlessly, sometimes it returns a limited list, and forces you to manually find the email in either your local or corporate address book.

The problems are hit or miss. Some sessions the clients work flawlessly, sometime it doesn’t. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern of the user who’s experiencing the issues.

Any ideas?

Subject: type-ahead

Not sure about your first two points, but I have seen issues with the type-ahead on 8.5. Easiest thing to do is to set the preferences in the location to look up on delimiter rather than on every character

What we ended up having to do is set the option “Disable type-ahead for all name fields and use the NOtes-basic type-ahead” in Preferences/Basic Configuration/Additional options.

This has completely removed to odd functionality that would occur at times. Of course now the new features are disabled, which is to bad; I found that having the notes client use names/addresses in any email I had in my inbox in the type ahead fields was very convienent.
