Dear All,as in the Subject i have just make an installation of domino 8.5 (client+desginer+administrator) both on my pc with precedent 7.0.2 release.
(i have follow this guide,
Notes 8 and Notes 7 coexistence):

i have a problem.
Notes 8.5 Client not starting very well and notes2.exe task is alway on 50% of the CPU. any action perfermed in the client the CPU for notes2.exe works on 50% and not action is performed. Very Very slowing and impossible to work.
But Domino Designer 8.5 work very good.
Also the realease 7.0.2 work very good coexistence
Actually for me it is impossible to use the 8.5 client.
I have a notebook with Windows XP Professional SP3, T7500 Centrino 2, 2GB RAM…a good notebook.
Tha same client 8.5 version installation (with Revision 20081211.1925) work good on other notebook in my company.
on this notebook i have perform the installation by renaming the 7.0.2 root end notes.ini references (es:programs\lotus\notes to programs\lotus\notes7) and installating the 8.5… so i have a “simple” coexistence of release 7 and 8.5.
I think on my notebook pc i have some programs (es: Microsoft visual studio, AVG antivirus, Plug-in or some other…) that does not permit a good coexistence with the notes client 8.5.
Do you have some suggestions or ideas to solve the client 8.5 problem on starting ?
Subject: Remove cache
First I would try to remove the cache.ndk file.If that does not work you could also try to remove the workspace directory in you data directory. Note that removes all settings regarding the eclipse side of your client (also of the designer and sametime)

i have remove the cache.NDK and the Workspace directory but the client not starting very good and not working.The client windows remain on “Getting Started” status and in the task manager Not Responding status.

I had exactly the same issue. Ended up installing the standard client first and then adding the amdin and dev clients. Haven’t tried on a different computer yet

i have try to remove the 8.5 installation.then i have re-install only the 8.5 client… when starting i perform the wizard configuration correctly (whit login to server) but then the client 8.5 loading windows remain on “getting started” status and the CPU works on 50% to 70% for the notes2.exe task…
…it is very incredible.
i think this eclpise client have many problem on notebook.
on other notebook of my company is not very fast and works slowly on some actions.

you think i must install first the 8.5 client and then add the Designer and Administrator ?
now i’m not sure what will happen if remove my 8.5 installation. i have now 7.0.2 and 8.5 both release.

Eclipse client hangs, standard client is OK.

i have some friends of mine in my company with similar configurations and settings of my notebook/laptop pc.
On their notebook LN 8.5 both client,designer and adminitrator work correctly (slowly but correctly). The only different is that on their notebook i have make an upgrade installation from LN 7 to LN 8.5 and not a both LN 7 and LN 8.5 installation.
I have also remove AVG antivirus but nothing.
at today I have no idea if exist a specific solution. In this week i try to install the 8.5.1 release both with LN 7. i hope it work correctly.
i don’t think that the problem can be the both LN 7 and LN8.5 installation.
I belive that there are some Windowx XP software/upgrade/tools on my notebook pc that not works correctly with 8.5 Eclipse client.
(i have some tool/program for programming and grafice development installed on my pc)

if i start the 8.5 standard client via nlnotes.exe in the 8.5 programs directory the client START AND WORKS VERY GOOD.
Now,
wath is the difference from LN 8.5 start link on desktop/Start program notes.exe and start manually from C:\Programs\lotus\Notes8\nlnotes.exe ?
