Looking for suggestions. We were running Notes 8.0.2 Basic on three Terminal Servers (yes, we know, not supported w/out Citrix) and tried to upgrade to 8.5.2 Standard. It was originally installed as Single User and the data directory is located on the user’s home directory on their file server. We tried the uninstall and re-install as Multi-User but could never get the client to load. Then we went back to the Single User install and everything works except that when they launch the Notes client in Standard mode, it creates the workspace directory in the Shared Data directory instead of the user’s personal data directory. Therefore we’re changed the icon so that everyone is running in basic mode for now.
I’ve been all over the forums and am at a loss. Does anyone know what controls where the workspace directory gets created?
We upgraded the 2nd Terminal Server (did not uninstall) and it does the same thing. We haven’t touched the 3rd server yet.
We had the same problem and found out that the location of the workspace directory is controlled by ‘rcplauncher.properties’ (located in the Lotus\Notes\framework\rcp directory). Change the setting ‘rcp.data=’ to the desired location for your workspace will solve the problem (In our case we changed it to ‘rcp.data=U:/Notes/Data/workspace’)
Terminal Server 8 multi user (not supported)- users with mapped U:\notes directories, but they are using the workspace where the app resides. ?? Need some ini variable to point to a diferent place
Subject: Sorry, but I think, you simply completely messed up your installation. See my AdminCamp2010 presentation Lotus Notes 8.5.x on Citrix XenApp how to do it right.
