Notes 8.5.2 client crashes whenever a message from the Internet is opened. If the message is forwarded or replied to, it will open find and may be read. However, whenever the message is opened, the Notes client will crash. This occurs with any message from the Internet. Internal messages open fine.
I have looked at the forums, but have not found a match or reason for this behavior. I have used this persons ID file on anotehr machine and can open the messages normally.
When we changed the “Format preference for incoming mail:” for the person experiencing the issue to “Prefers Notes Rich Text,” it appears to correct this issue for new inbound messages.
While this is not the solution we prefer, since the issue is only occurring on this one machine, it does provide a solution.
From this, it appears that something wiht the MIME conversion when opening on that client is causing the issue, but I am not sure I will get more time on his computer to try to identify what the actual root cause was.
Thank you for your help and I hope this will help others who may get the same issue.
do you get an NSD? If so send it to IBM for diagnosis. On the client that is having the issue try disabling the embedded browser in preferences under advanced options.
Thank you for the reply, Paul. Unforturnately, changing the Internet Browser options did not help. I uninstalled Notes, deleted all the files under the Notes directory and reinstalled Notes, but the issue persists.Notes client is 8.5.2
OS is Windows XP SP3
IE is 7.0.5730.13.xpsp_sp3_gdr.100427-1636
I cannot contact IBM, at this tims, unfortunately. I would include some of the NSD in this post, but it is quite large and I cannot identify what would be most helpful. I was hoping someone ran into this and had something I could check.
