Notes 8.5.1 not starting up?

Hi,

I tried to install the Sametime Advanced plugin on my machine. I’m running Notes 8.5.1 already. After i run the setup of the plugin, it showed me that partial installation was done and some components failed to install.

After that my Notes is not starting up. It prompts me for the password and it shows the “Loading” progress bar till the end and the splash screen disappears. I tried deleting the workspace folder and cache.ndk, but for no use.

when i see the provisioning log, it shows me :

1272274900057;0;0;0;0;1;Partial installation and setup occurred.|Below are details about the features that failed to set up.|CWPPR0066E: The provisioning service requests contains conflicting requests.|-CWPPR0067E: The install request for feature com.ibm.rcp.xulrunner.runtime.feature conflicts with another request for the same feature.|-CWPPR0067E: The install request for feature com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.browser.xul.feature conflicts with another request for the same feature.;

What should i do to get my Notes back? I don’t want to reinstall Notes. Can somebody help me???

Thanks.

Subject: Remove the conflicting plugins from the progdir and platform.xml

Look into the install.xml of the ST Advanced plugin to get the versions of the ST Adv plugins.Remove them from the …\framework\rcp.. directories and …\framework\shared.. directories.

Remove the appropriate feature elements from \workspace.config\org.eclispe.update\platform.xml

Start notes using the -rparams -clean parameter (only once!)

Hope this helps

Try this.- locate your notes.ini (usualy under the notes folder

  • back it up somwhere

  • edit it using notepad

  • remove all lines below the line where the data directory is mentioned.

  • save it

  • restart notes and provide user detail, etc…

  • that should do it.

  • if it is working discard the backed up notes.ini

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your response. I did that, but its still not working. I think i’ve no option but to reinstall.

I’ve decided to wait till this evening to get any solution and then do the reinstall :frowning:

I have the same situation here. 8.5.0 worked just fine, but 8.5.1 isn’t working for me at all.

Particularly with a plugin install failure, I’d be suspicious of the Workspace folder.

It seems to be particularly fragile, and once it gets hosed, there’s no hope.

So, delete it.

Notes will rebuild it when it restarts.

This tends to be an effective (if hardsh) solution to the “splash screen and password prompt come up but Notes never starts” problem …
