Notes 8.5.1 not starting up!

Just now i uninstalled Notes 8.5(but not removed the install directories) and installed Notes 8.5.1

It started up nicely. When i tried to install a plugin, i didn’t see the Install option in the 'File → Application ’ menu. So i exited Notes and added

‘com.ibm.notes.branding/enable.update.ui=true’

to the plugin_customization.ini file and again started the Notes client.

The splash screen appeared and it gone after sometime. It didn’t even prompt me for the password. So i restarted my PC and launched Notes. It prompted me for the password and it loaded completely(as shown in the splash screen’s progress bar). But i could not see the Notes client window, not even in the taskbar. But the task manager shows that nlnotes.exe is running.

What should i do to get the Notes back?

I don’t want to do a complete uninstall & install.

Thanks.

Subject: same problem here

i have the same problem. but for me everything worked until this weekend (installed 8.5.1 last monday) → splash screen, but no client loading. nlnotes.exe & notes2.exe are loaded

Subject: solved for me

I found a good page for debugging:http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/06262009085854AMWEBH8V.htm

After running nsd all processes were closed and the client started correctly.

Tip: Check the IBM_Technical_Support folder, sort it by date and check the last edited files to find out the problem. console.log and console_xxxxx@yyyyy.log will tell you where it hangs

Subject: Solved!!!

Once i emptied the workspace directory in Notes’ data directory, my Notes client started up well.

Not sure whether that was a reason.

Subject: quick fix, delete workspace folder

That seems to be the fix for alot of corruptions, delete workspace folder.
