I had a Notes client at 8.5.1 FP1 level and I got a note from IBM TAP to upgrade to Notes 8.5.1 FP1 SHF20 hotfix.
I installed it from ISSI and did not succeed (got an “undefined” error message): after that Notes.exe DOES NOT START any more. It shows the splash screen, asks for password, loads for a while then dies… no error, nothing: task still running in task manager but no Notes screen!
If I start NLNOTES.exe it works…
Tried to reinstall the hotfix and it says it’s already installed, although it gave me an error at first try. Tried to reinstall FP1 with no difference: do you have any suggestion how to make FULL notes start back again?
I had the same error.This FP1 SHF20 little bastard installed silently in the background over my 8.5.1 FP2 and guess what - nothing worked…
How could FP1 SHF20 be installed over FP2? Even in silent mode!
Anyway, the solution is to run the install again. Then it will offer you to uninstall it.
The problem is that you have to run hotfix.exe. Don’t run 851FP1SHF20_W32_standard.exe, this did not work. You have to run 851FP1SHF20_W32_standard.exe and while running go to the TEMP dir and steal the deploy folder, the updateSite folder and the hotfix.exe. Copy the somewhere else, interrupt the 851FP1SHF20_W32_standard.exe and run hotfix.exe.
If you have problem finding the hotfix 851FP1SHF20_W32_standard.exe like me, you have steal it again from TEMP dir while EZUpdate is runnig…
