Notes 8.5.1 client crashes every time on start up

Hello,I my notes client 8.5.1 always crashes on startup. Any help would be much appreciated. I can send the contents of “nsd_w32i_xxxx.log” from the IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT folder. It is a huge file, I can copy paste the whole log if necessary. The content of the console.log is below.

Subject: From the part of the NSD you posted, this indicates that there is a crash happening in the Notes2.EXE process

The 1st thing you would want to look for is whether a javacore*.txt file or *.dmp file were created in the data\workspace\logs directory.

If so, inspecting the 1st line for a GPF (General Protection Fault) or a SysThrow/OutOfMemory would provide the 1st clue. If it is either, the javacore a couple of lines later indicates the DLL involved and searching for the current thread later in the file (for a GPF) shows the java stack of the thread that caused the crash. After the java stacks is the native stack of the same thread.

If a javacore is not generated, Support can provide steps that can be used to more closely monitor the processes to obtain a crash stack.

While looking at the javacore may tell you something, I would recommend that you contact Support.

Subject: UCClient version is your problem. It needs to be 1.2.5 as a minimum

Subject: workspace folder

To fix this issue, Delete the workspace folder located under the notes\data folders. Then re-launch Notes.

Subject: workspace folder

Deleting the folder worked for me, as well.

I’ve submitted an ESR and included my Lotus Notes & Domino Fault Reports database - we are seeing lots of these “notes2.exe gone missing” crashes with the 8.5.1 client (regardless of FixPack). We also see a fair amount of “Dump Event “gpf” (00002000) received” crashes with the 8.5.1 client.

Subject: RE: workspace folder

Worked for ME

Subject: Copy paste the NSD log contents

The problem can be identify by inspecting the NSD log.

Subject: I’ve seen this on one of our clients as well.
