I just tried to install the Notes 8.0.2 client on a Windows 2000 Professional workstation. The install runs fine.
When I launch the client, I get past the password dialog, and I see the edges of the actual client window. And then the client disappears. Stops loading, and I’m back to the Windows desktop.
Any suggestions on how to make it work?
Yes, I know that Windows 2000 is not supported. I will not be using this for real life users.
I need the fat client. And the Designer. I wanted to use the Win2000 inside a VmWare image I could distribute to colleagues for them to test the Notes 8.0.2 client without influencing their existing Notes clients.
One of my good colleagues had a suggestion for me though. That worked too.
I installed a fresh 8.0.2 on a clean Windows XP PC. And then I just copy/paste the installation directory to the PCs that are to test 8.0.2.
You can still (I have done that since version3.30) do that - even with the fat client. And even including Lotus Symphony.
