Notes 8.0.1 user pointing to incorrect mail file

My asst. created a new user and spelled the name incorrectly. After installing the client he realized his mistake. He renamed the mail.nsf file. Now when the user opens the client she gets the message stated database not found in a dialog box that requests the user to Choose Server to Search.

How can we clean this up and what should be the proper steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again?

Open the names.nsf on the server, goto the user entry and open it in edit mode, in Basic Tab there will be an entry for mail file name - Correct it.

NEXT

In the client look at the Bottom Right corner, there will be a text indicating location Document name,

  • right click on it

  • choose Edit current

  • in the next dialog box, click on the text with same label and choose EDIT

  • goto the Mail Tab, correct the name there.

Save and close notes and reopen.

Subject: don’t edit, use rename process

You want to use the rename process, which can be initiated in the admin client, so that all instances of the name are updated properly.
