Before a nation wide and company wide roll out of Notes 8 we are doing some internal testing. We have been testing the 8.0.1 client on a 6.5.5 FP2 server and have noticed a few oddities. I was wondering if anyone else has seen these and if anyone has suggestions.
These are happening to multiple testers on different systems. All systems are Windows XP SP2, running the 8.0.1 client with a standard R8 mail template on a 6.5.5 FP2 server.
When clicking to expand the Archives in the Navigation pane, multiple copies of the same archive appear. Sometimes it is 2 or 3, but I have seen it as many as 10 times. Archive settings have never changed and only point to one archive file.
When using the arrow keys to scroll through messages in the inbox, messages seem to disappear from the view. this is extremely intermittent. If you close the inbox and come back in the messages are back in view. (This is not a view all/view unread issue)
With the sidebar turned on with the Day-At-A-Glance view, the monthly calendar that is at the bottom gradually slides down until it is not visible. You have to grab it and drag it back to it’s original position.
When accepting meetings or updating to do’s a second window opens with the Notes Classic look. The only way to get it to close is to use killnotes. This one I have only seen a couple times, but with two different people.
Any help is appreciated. We really want to get some of the bugs worked out before deploying enterprise wide.
ADDED NOTE: A screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 seems to be the culprit. At least if I switch to that resolution I am able to duplicate problems 1-3 much easier.
Does the dialog that comes up say anything? Can you give a screen shot? Sounds like a focus issue. Might want to try Alt-tab to ensure that the dialog has focus. We need to figure out what the difference is with the couple of people that you’ve seen the issue with.
The next time it happens I will get a screen shot for you. I’m not sure what you mean by “focus” though. There is not a dialog that pops up. It is another full instance of Lotus Notes, but using the Classic version instead of the eclipse. (Like launching nlnotes.exe instead of notes.exe) All of the tabs that are open in the original window, also open in the new windows. The only thing is that you can’t close the window without closing the original.
I will get you a screen shot as soon as it happens again. Thanks
I have a screen shot to send you, but I’m not sure how to attach it to a forum message. Can you tell me how or give me an e-mail address I can send it to?
When you look at the image you are seeing the newly opened Notes Classic window. This open when I was updating a meeting on my calendar. If you look at my task bar you will see I have two Notes windows open, Mail - Inbox - IBM Lot… and Donald Small - Inbox, The RMCorpDO Domain is the admin client which you can disregard. As I close the tabs in the front window, the corresponding tabs close in the other Notes window. However, You cannot close this window without ending the process or by using KillNotes.
I have been experiencing a very similar issue. It is very reproducible for me. I get the “second” instance of the Notes client this way: with the Notes client and the Admin client open, I open a ToDo from the Day-at-a-glance view of the sidebar. When I mark the ToDo as completed, which closes the ToDo, I get the second instance of Notes. The only way to close the second instance is to shut down Notes completely.
