Notes 6.51 Client on Linux

Attempts to get Notes 65 running on RH9 with wine failed with a null handle error.Upgrading to the January 21, 2004 Notes 6.51 version fixed whatever that error was.

Requirements: Notes 6.51 (January 21, 2004)

RedHat 9 and Wine (recent: at least the February 2004 build).

It opens, displays and replicates with the server. It subscribes to and retrieves newsgroup messages. I haven’t yet attempted to get e-mail working.

Subject: I am afraid it woul never be supported: They will go for LWP Rich Client instead.

I guess that IBM plans to go for the market linux (for desktop) are based on LWP Rich Client. I am afraid that it would never be a supported version of Notes for linux, although I think we will have a specific java rich client, eclipse based, this year (the so called Lotus Workplace Rich Cliente).
