I have a new laptop PC (Lenovo T61p) running Windows Vista Ultimate.
I’ve installed Notes 5.0.13, 6.5.6, and 7.0.2 in separate directories.
I can run both 5.0.13 and 7.0.2 with no apparent problems, but 6.5.6 crashes whenever I try to:
Open my inbox;
Open my calendar; or
Close Notes.
Strangely, opening my To-dos doesn’t cause a crash, and there are other databases that I can open safely.
Also, one of my workmates has a laptop with Vista Business installed, and can run Notes 6.5 without a problem (but I’m not sure whether it’s 6.5.6 or an earlier version).
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

I had similar problems and found it to be linked with views and forms that have names checked for online status in SameTime. I found that in my user preferences under instant messaging there is a check with ‘show instant messaging status for names’ despite the fact that Sametime has not been set up.
Unchecking solved the loading issue of the inbox and e-mail forms.

Mister Sander Peters,
You are a genious! There are so many articles out there concerning the compatibility of Notes 6.5 and Vista and this is such a simple solution!
How on earth did you notice that this checked option was causing the problem???

The tricks that I have heard all relate to whether or not you have administrator rights to Vista.

7.0.2 is the first Notes release officially supported in Vista as you can see here http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=463&uid=swg21252343

Hi Scott,Windows Vista doesn’t support 6.x version. You have to use ver 7.x to run notes client properly on Windows Vista.
